Director Vivek Agnihotri, who promised to expose film critic Anupama Chopra in his tweets, came up with shocking facts against her in a YouTube video. Vivek, who delivered “The Tashkent Files” in 2019 and asked the uncomfortable question of “Who Killed Shastri”, is now ready to tell the horrific story of the year 1990.
Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming film ‘The Kashmir Files’ is a film about the genocide and exodus of Kashmiri pundits that happened over three decades ago, but they never got justice and never were unable to return home. In an attempt to portray the real events in the truest form, Vivek Agnihotri made the movie “The Kashmir Files”. While millions of people can’t wait to watch it, Vivek Agnihotri feels targeted by the so-called “Bollywood mafia”.
He called film critic Anupama Chopra, owner of “Film Companion”, an entertainment journalism platform. Vivek previously called her out in a tweet that read, “Dear @anupamachopra, Bollywood’s Shoorpanakha, if you have the guts openly sabotage #TheKashmirFiles. Please stop playing dirty tricks in the background. Your only qualification is that you are married to a producer who, despite being a KP, has stabbed KPs in the back.
And now, in a Youtube video, he tells how she made propaganda against him. Giving an example of the latest Hindi release ‘Gehraiyaan’ backed by Karan Johar, Vivek Agnihotri said, “Audiences threw this movie in the trash but Anupama spares no effort to call it a ‘hit’. I thought Film Companion writes about every movie, so I should check what they wrote about “The Kashmir Files”, the trailer of which is well received by the public.
In the video, Vivek shared how Anupama Chopra’s company promoted Gehraiyaan without fail. And then he shared that she only made one tweet about his movie and that was also to criticize his work even before the movie was released.
Anupama is married to producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who is a Kashmiri Hindu. Vidhu has made two Kashmir Genocide films – Mission Kashmir and Shikara. He called Anupama and her husband “urban naxals” and explained how Vidhu Vinod, despite being a Kashmiri pandit, betrayed his community. He said, “In Mission Kashmir, he justified the terrorists and didn’t say a word about the Kashmiri pundits. In the second film, Shikara, Vidhu said “30 years have passed, let’s move on”.
Vivek added, “Anupama, you promote films like Gehraiyaan, but when it comes to ‘The Kashmir Files’, which shows the plight of ten lakh Hindus and the incident that still affects the citizens of the nation, you criticize him. You do this because you know that I know you.
“If someone makes a film about Free Kashmir, Anupama will definitely promote it. I can write it in blood,” he said.
Towards the end of the video, he said, “This is my response to your dirty tricks. I didn’t mean to do this, but you provoked me. If you have even 1% sympathy for the Kashmiri pundits, you will criticize my film, good or bad.
Vivek also said, “You and your industry boycotted an independent filmmaker like me. Bollywood biggies bought all of the media today. This includes Karan Johar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra and 4-5 other major production houses that set the rules for the entire industry. They decide who will succeed here and who will not! Those they want not to succeed, they do everything to finish it off. And let me tell you who will succeed here – those who bow to them, metaphorically, figuratively, and practically too. Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has never bowed to them and never will. But for that I have to pay a huge price.
“I will not be silent,” he concluded.
The Kashmir Files features Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty in key roles. It will hit theaters on March 11.
