Buddhism helps Shraddha Das cope with difficult times

Containment across Maharashtra to fight the second wave of COVID-19 has affected celebrities as much as the average man. Shraddha Das, who is currently in Mumbai, says she is going through a difficult time, but Buddhist chants are helping her cope.

“I have been sitting at home for the past 10 days doing nothing,” Shraddha shares. “Containment is so frustrating. I used to train regularly, but with the new restrictions, I can’t go out.

“Revealing that she hadn’t felt so bad even during the previous lockdown,” she says, perhaps her mother’s condition had an impact on her. “My mother tested positive for COVID-19 last month. This news terrified me. I stay in Andheri West while she stays in Chembur. I called her every 15 minutes to check on her and was scared when she didn’t answer my call sometimes. It was so hard for me, ”the actress said.

“These 20 days have been a test of endurance, and the anxiety has taken over me a lot.”
Shraddha says she practiced Buddhism, and without it she would have gone mad. “I sing Nam myoho renge kyo. It gives me peace, strength and allows me to stay calm, ”she shares.

It was actress Poonam Bajwa who introduced Shraddha to Buddhism six years ago, and this resulted in several changes in her life. “It gave me a different perspective on life and made me stronger,” the actress said.

In terms of work, Shraddha Das will be seen as a Sanyasini in the film Telugu Ek Mini Katha directed by Karthik Rapolu. While the film stars Santosh Shobhan and Kavya Thapar, the role of Shraddha is crucial.

“It’s an original and fun role; it’s a hard-hitting role that makes a big difference in the film. Also, I had never played a Sanyasini before, so when I was offered the role it was intriguing. I really enjoyed playing the character, ”explains the actress.

“From an aesthetic point of view, too, I have never sported such a hairstyle on screen; I was initially worried about my appearance but the director designed my character and costumes beautifully, the color palettes he used were inspiring as well, ”the actress said, adding that she wore sarees. during the movie.

Shraddha says the role resonated with her because certain aspects of the character matched her actual personality. “I always ask for the scenes early so I can prepare myself. I have never been to the sets without being prepared. This role is short but powerful, ”she concludes.
